My very brave husband, Luke...

My extremely brave husband Luke was just recently diagnosed with stage 1 colon cancer. He had a shot of chemotherapy while in surgery to remove the growth, and this morning he woke up with patches of his hair missing. Part of his eyebrow was gone, as well as patches of his hair and his beard. He had testicular cancer over 10 years ago, so knew that he was most likely going to lose his hair, but it was still a bit of a shock. I still think he is the most handsome man I've ever seen :)

I love you sweetheart.

Self-portraits....

I'm involved in a project on Flickr named "365 Days" in which I take a self-portrait every day for a whole year. It sounds very narcissistic, but the intended purpose is to see a progression in your photography skills throughout the year. It's very challenging some days, as there are quite a few days when you don't feel like showing your face, or you're sick....but it's very rewarding at the end of the day to see your skills improving! These are a few examples that I particularly like....

It's all in the details....

I like to believe that I try to see the simple things in life and make them into a thing of beauty. Emphasizing the things we take for granted because we see them on a daily basis. There are so many details in life that we overlook, but can be beautiful all on their own!

This is one of my favourite photos of Luke. I see his scruffy stubbly beard all the time, but I think the high-key aspect of this photo makes it very interesting!

My favourite jeans with an emphasis on the stitching details.

Pistachios

Gotta love a good polka-dotted sock!

...Roman...

My little Roman :) I babysit him and his sister all the time, and they are such fun! He's my husband's little cousin, so I guess that makes him my cousin by marriage. Whatever it is, he's family for sure!

Roman has this tendency to twirl his hair every time he drinks. It's hilarious, and I was so glad to capture it :)

Nederland Cemetery

These were taken in Nederland, CO cemetery - Luke and I went for a drive and explored the town a little! The cemetery is beautiful - it's high up on a hill, overlooking a town. It's in a little bit of shambles - some of the tombstones are broken and the grass is really high (as you'll see in the first photo!), but it is extremely tranquil and serene....a beautiful resting place...
